Hawaii's Woodshow opens Sept. 8

The annual juried furniture and woodworking show of the Hawai'i Forest Industry Association, Hawaii's Woodshow 2007, opens Sept. 8 at the Academy Art Center at Linekona.The works use only wood from Hawaiian-grown tree species. The show's mission is to serve as a reference point for the planting of native and non-native high-value hardwoods for coming generations.
On opening night, prizes will be awarded for best of show and first places in the divisions of furniture, woodturning, sculpture, musical instrument, open and student. A people's choice and an artists' choice awards will be bestowed at the close of the show on Sept. 16. Visitors can cast ballots at the exhibition.
