A holiday open house

Hope Chapel Kane'ohe Bay celebrates its Christmas open house, "An Evening in December," at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, 45-815 Po'okela St. in Kane'ohe.

Following a concept that began in Reston, Va., Hope Chapel's women's pastor, Corinne Souza, continues the tradition with the church's second annual open house hosted by its women's group, where music will be provided by flutist Deborah Saggers and a guitar duo, Johnna & Jenny. Moana Anderson will offer a Christmas message.

Contemplative Outreach of Hawai'i is holding a morning of centering prayer during advent at 9 a.m. Dec. 15 at Central Union Church's women's building, 1660 S. Beretania St.

'MESSIAH' TOMORROW

Central Union hosts its 60th annual free performance of Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in its sanctuary.

Performing will be the chorus, orchestra and soloists Catherine Goto, Debbie Kelsey, Kalani Brady and Christopher Kelsey, conducted by Noel Lovelace.
