Strong winds on Haleakala summit

Advertiser Staff

A cold front approaching Hawaii from the northwest is expected to bring strong winds to the summit of Haleakala today. Forecasters at the National Weather Service have issued a win advisory until 6 a.m. Monday, with winds expected to reach 30 to 35 mph by early this morning.

A wind advisory means winds of 309 to 39 mph are expected and will make for difficult driving, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
