SUNDAY'S MUST-SEE

"Pictures of Hollis Woods," 9 p.m., CBS. Hollis is 12, quiet and artistic and often sad. She's an orphan, living with a good-hearted artist (Sissy Spacek) whose mind is fading. In flashbacks, we see key people (James Tupper, Alfre Woodard), trying to help. There are few surprises in this "Hallmark Hall of Fame" film, but it looks great and has rich emotion. Spacek matches her brilliance in a 1994 Hallmark film, "A Place for Annie."

"Tin Man," 9 p.m., Sci Fi. When soldiers invade her Kansas-like home, DG (Zooey Deschanel) leaps into a tornado. She ends up in another world, facing an evil sorceress. Yes, this is a re-worked "The Wizard of Oz," for good and bad. The good: An epic story, beautiful photography and top actors (Richard Dreyfuss, Alan Cummings) in key roles. The bad: Deschanel is likable but has a curiously flat delivery. And the story is stretched to three nights, through Tuesday, with unneeded detours.

OF NOTE

"National Treasure" (2004), 6 p.m., Sci Fi. Nicolas Cage plays a guy obsessed with clues on the back of the Declaration of Independence. This film does double duty today — preparing people for a sequel that hits theaters this month and leading into the "Tin Man" debut.

"Napoleon Dynamite" (2004), 6:30 p.m., Comedy Central. Here's the popular, low-budget comedy about a geeky teen in rural Idaho.

Bowl selection, 8 p.m., Fox and ESPN. In the half-hour Fox show, we learn who will be in the college football championship game on Jan. 7 and who will be in the four bowls for teams that came close — Rose and Sugar on Jan. 1, Fiesta on Jan. 2, Orange on Jan. 3. ESPN will stay for three hours, catching reactions and viewing the full bowl lineup.

"Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project," 8 p.m., HBO. Don Rickles has been a daring comic, insulting anyone in the audience, including presidents, Frank Sinatra and the Rev. Billy Graham. At 81, he doesn't seem to have slowed much. Director John Landis skillfully weaves old clips, a recent performance and comments by such admirers as Clint Eastwood and Chris Rock.

"Desperate Housewives," 9 p.m., ABC. Last week, things tightened on Gabrielle and Carlos (her husband is alive), Mike (Susan knows of his pill addiction) and Adam (a female accuser from Chicago has found him). Tonight, a tornado sends people to their basements.

"Last Laugh '07," 10 p.m., Comedy Central. Lewis Black, the witty stand-up comedian, leads a look at the year.

"Brothers and Sisters," 10:01 p.m., ABC. It's the wedding day for Kitty Walker (Calista Flockhart), the conservative commentator and Robert McCallister (Rob Lowe), the senator and honored war veteran. There are complications, as there usually are at TV weddings.
