Forecast calls for a rainy work week

A cold front will remain nearly stationary over Maui today and will bring moderate to heavy showers, the latest National Weather Service forecast said.

The front should be moving quickly north of the state tonight ahead of a low-pressure system moving in from the west, which should bring strong winds and heavy rains to the state for the rest of the work week.

Today: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Northeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 73. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph becoming southeast. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. South wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. South wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
