Honolulu commuter ferry launch postponed

Advertiser Staff

Today's scheduled launch of the city commuter ferry from Kalaeloa to Aloha Tower has been postponed until the vessel's new motor can be tested.

Project manager Darin Mar said yesterday that officials have been unable to conduct water trials due to bad weather. Mar expected the launching will be delayed "a few days."

The Rachel Marie ferry is a 72-foot-long catamaran capable of carrying 149 passengers, Mar said.
