DUI arrests up 9 percent on Big Island
Advertiser Staff
Big Island police arrested 27 motorists for drunk driving from Nov. 27 through Monday, bringing this year's DUI arrest total to 1,261 compared to 1,154 through the same time span last year. The 9 percent increase is in part because of increased DUI roadblocks and patrols, which are continuing island-wide.Of the 27 drivers arrested last week, seven were involved in crashes and four were under the age of 21.
