Forbes ranks Wie 4th financially among young stars

Advertiser Staff

Michelle Wie may be struggling on the golf course of late, but few athletes and stars fared better financially than the Punahou grad did from June 2006 to June 2007.

Forbes Magazine released it's 20 Under 25 list of the Top-Earning Young Superstars from June to June today, and Wie is listed No. 4 overall earner behind Cleveland Cavaliers sensation LeBron James (23 years old, $27 million); New Orleans running back Reggie Bush (22, $24 million) and tennis ace Maria Sharapova (20, $23 million, but only $3.8 million from winnings).

According to the Forbes report, Wie, 18, earned $19 million from June 2006 to June 2007.

The article, in part, says "With endorsement deals worth $16 million a year, she shouldn't have a problem with the university's $33,000 annual tuition."
