NEW YORK — An angry Jennifer Love Hewitt is defending her curves after photos of her in a bikini in Hawai'i were ridiculed on the Internet.

"I've sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women's bodies are constantly scrutinized," the 28-year-old actress writes on her Web site. "To set the record straight, I'm not upset for me, but for all the girls out there that are struggling with their body image."

The photos show Hewitt, with a bit of cellulite, on a Hawai'i beach with her new fiance, Scottish actor Ross McCall.

PAT ROBERTSON'S SON SUCCEEDS HIM

The Rev. Pat Robertson said yesterday that his son, Gordon, has succeeded him as chief executive of the Christian Broadcasting Network, the most recent shift to a new generation of leaders within major conservative Christian groups.

Robertson, 77, announced the transition on "The 700 Club," the Virginia-based network's flagship show, with Gordon, 49, on air with him.

Pat Robertson will still be chairman of CBN and will continue to appear with his son on "The 700 Club." He also will remain president of Regent University, which he founded.

NEW PAGEANT WINNER NAMED

LOS ANGELES — There's a new Miss California USA — less than a week after one was erroneously crowned.

Christina Silva, 24, was declared the winner of the annual state beauty pageant, but she relinquished the title to the second runner-up after organizers discovered an apparent accounting error that led to a shakeup in the order.

Miss Barstow, 21-year-old Raquel Beezley, will represent the state at the Miss USA pageant next April.

The error, first reported by the celebrity TV show "Extra," is the latest problem to beset Donald Trump's Miss Universe Organization, which controls the Miss Teen USA and Miss USA pageants.

The pageant's state director, Keith Lewis, said several judges questioned the results of the Nov. 25 competition in Los Angeles. The error was discovered the next day.
