No major damage reported on North Shore

Advertiser Staff

At midday today, residents on the North Shore were reporting a widespread power outage, but little obvious damage from last night's heavy weather.

Haleiwa Supermarket was crowded with people this morning trying to stock up for the next onslaught of rain and wind.

Jenny Vierra of Waialua said the market had no electricity and was dark but people were allowed to shop.

People were cordial and polite to one another, and were talking about how they couldn't get to work because roads were closed, said Vierra.

By early afternoon, residents were reporting that most businesses in Hale'iwa were closed.
