Advertiser Staff

A Pearl City house fire today was started by an unattended candle used during a power outage, according to Honolulu Fire Department investigators.

The 10:49 a.m. fire at 2241 Akeukeu St. was confined to a bedroom of the single-story home and caused about $25,000 damage, said HFD spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.

Twenty-five firefighters helped put out the fire, which was extinguished at 11:40 a.m., said Seelig.

No injuries were reported.
