Slain Redskin Sean Taylor leads Pro Bowl vote at safety

Associated Press

ASHBURN, Va. — Slain Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor leads the Pro Bowl voting at his position, according to tallies released today by the NFL.

Taylor had 187,064 votes from fans as of Nov. 13, tops among free safeties in the NFC.

Taylor died last week after being shot at his home in Florida. He had five interceptions this year and ranked among the league leaders for most of the season.

Fan voting continues through Dec. 11 and will count for one-third of the total vote to determine who plays in the Pro Bowl in Honolulu on Feb. 10.

Coaches and players count for the other two-thirds. The Pro Bowl teams will be announced Dec. 18.

Taylor was voted as a first alternate last season. He got to play in the game — his only Pro Bowl appearance — after Philadelphia's Brian Dawkins withdrew due to personal reasons.
