Advertiser Staff

A 19-year-old Kailua,Kona, man faces a second-degree robbery charge in connection with a Nov. 27 purse-snatching in Kona.

Jeffrey Sargent was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail at the Hawai'i Community Correctional Center. He was bound over to Circuit Court for trial after a preliminary hearing yesterday.

Big Island police said Sargent was one of two people on mopeds who grabbed the purse of a 50-year-old woman visitor and knocked her down before fleeing. Sargent was arrested about an hour later.
