A preliminary hearing is scheduled Monday for a fisherman from the Republic of Kiribati accused of killing a man early Tuesday morning at Honolulu Harbor.

Taniera Takentarawa, 26, who has no permanent local address and has been living aboard the fishing boat Vui Vui at Pier 36, is being held in lieu of $150,000. He is considered a flight risk since the Vui Vui is often at sea, according to prosecutors.

Takentarawa is accused of fatal stabbing death of Bright Obed, 34. Obed, who was not a crewmember of the Vui Vui, was stabbed once in the neck and three times in the back.

Obed's body was found face down on the Vui Vui. Police recovered a six-inch knife with a broken-edge three-inch blade near Obed's body.
