Big traffic headaches on Farrington Highway

Advertiser Staff

Some Wai'anae Coast commuters were stuck in traffic for as long as three hours this morning, and the slow drive on Farrington Highway continued this afternoon as residents streamed toward the city after being cut off in the wake of yesterday's storm.

The main problem today was a bottleneck in Nanakuli — only one lane was open in either direction — where crews are still working on wiring issues after replanting 16 uprooted electric poles since the storm.

Gas stations in Kapolei reported long lines of customers coming from surrounding areas yesterday and this morning, but said the flow of people wanting to fill up their tanks has since slowed as power is restored to more areas.
