Haleakala summit closed through sunrise tomorrow

The Haleakala National Park summit area on Maui will be closed tonight through sunrise tomorrow due to dangerous road conditions and a power outage.Park maintenance staff completed clearing the road of rock and debris this afternoon but power is still out, officials said.
Park rangers plan to reassess the road tomorrow morning after sunrise. Should the park continue to be without power, there will be no restrooms or telephones available for use at the summit.
