Expect traffic delays from leak-detection work

The Big Island county Department of Water Supply will install leak detection equipment to a water system along Mamalahoa Highway between Haukapila or Hospital Road to Ho'okena Junction starting Dec. 11.

Installation is expected to last six days, and is scheduled for completion on Dec. 16.

Two lanes will remain open to traffic, but motorists should plan for 30-minute delays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
