Makena team captures head pro-assistant title

Kirk Nelson and Brian Sasada of Makena Resort Golf Courses, shot a combined 1-over-par 73 Tuesday to claim a one-stroke victory in the E-Z-Go Aloha Section PGA's Head Pro-Assistant Pro Championships at Hualalai Golf Club on the Big Island.
The Makena team, which shot a 4-under 68 in Monday's opening round, finished with a 36-hole total of 3-under 141 for the $2,500 top prize.
Turtle Bay's Kevin Carll and Kellan Anderson shot 68-74—142 to finish second and earn $2,000.
Hilo Muni's Rodney Acia and Lance Taketa (70-76—146) were third and collected $1,250, with Hualalai's Brendan Moynahan and Jake Belveal (68-79—147, $800) fourth and Hawai'i Prince's Tim Herek and Dan Chickering (69-79—148, $750) fifth.
Defending champions David Rau and John Shaw of Kapalua, shot 71-78—149 and finished in a three-way tie for sixth.
