Preps: Parade will honor Leilehua state champions

Advertiser Staff

After numerous requests from the Wahiawa community, Mayor Mufi Hannemann said the city will stage a Leilehua High School Parade of Champions Dec. 15 to honor the state football Division I Champion Leilehua.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at Ka'ala Elementary School and proceed along California Avenue, ending at the Leilehua High School Field.

The parade will feature not only the football team, but also will include members of Leilehua's state champion cross country team, the Leilehua High School marching band, cheerleaders and others.

"There's a lot of community pride in Wahiawa surrounding the accomplishments of the Leilehua High School football and cross country teams," Hannemann said. "We're working closely with school principal Aloha Coleman to honor the school's accomplishments with an old-fashioned parade and pep rally."

Said Coleman: "We want to thank Mayor Hannemann and his staff for being community-minded. We're so proud of our school, and grateful that he's honoring us with this parade of champions."
