COMEDY: DEC. 14

Paul Ogata, below, a Hawai'i comedian-radio deejay who relocated to California two years ago to focus on his stand-up comedy, will be back on O'ahu for one night of laughs. Ogata is on cloud nine after winning the San Francisco International Comedy Competition — past winners include Dana Carvey of "Saturday Night Live" fame, Marsha Warfield of "Night Court" and Sinbad. Ogata recently toured Seattle and Hong Kong. Kento and Dave Hisaka open the show.

"Broadway Mixed Plate 2007: A Miracle on Bethel Street" features the vocal talents of stars from shows such as "Les Miserables," "Rent," "Hair," "Miss Saigon," "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Mamma Mia!" Among the singers are Joan Almedilla, Trisha Mae Banquerigo, Evan D'Angeles, Tesz Millan, Elika Santos and Kristian Lei. Lei's nonprofit organization Honolulu Broadway Babies, which supports education programs for the developmentally challenged, is presenting the benefit concerts.

The Actors' Group presents a heartwarming story about friendship, forgiveness and the love of family in "Merry Christmas Roberta (A Chinatown Story)." A married couple, owners of a Chinatown convenience store, notice some grocery items are missing, and it looks like their 9-year-old daughter has been giving food to a homeless person on her way to school. That person's life story unravels at the Thanksgiving family dinner. Left, Laurie Tanoura as Roberta, Amber Hazelwood as Lynette.

Shhh, it's Ima Robot, below, with guest Guns 'n' Bombs as BAMP Project hosts the worldwide launch of pro surfer Jamie O'Brian's signature sandal from Etnies. Ima Robot's second album "Monument to the Masses" hit stores in September with the ever-so-popular tune "Creeps Me Out," about a groupie/stalker. Keith and Carmen Haugen, above, want to get you in the holiday spirit with the second annual "Peace On Earth" Christmas concert featuring Stanton K. Haugen and The Thursday Night Band, Jamie Uchima, Noelani Kanoho Mahoe, Al Waterson, George Kuo, Mel Murata and the Keiki Palaka Band, Don Humphrey, Dennis and David Kamakahi, Bryan Tolentino. Maestro Andreas Delfs conducts the Honolulu Symphony in the classic Symphony No. 9 by Beethoven. The concert has become an annual tradition that welcomes the new year — the composer's masterpiece is a fitting and triumphant statement that celebrates hope for humankind.

Partymasters Flash and Matty Boy have outdone themselves, ushering in the new year with "Season Finale" that takes over the entire W Honolulu Diamond Head hotel. That means the lobby, Diamond Head Grill, the penthouse and everything in between. Celebrated stylist and butcher couture artist Adam Saaks, right, returns to produce his custom T-shirts, cut to clients' bodies; percussionist Ricky Rock and drummer Jacob Marshall (of the indie band Mae) will be in the house.

She's so unusual! Yes, we're talking about pop icon Cyndi Lauper, who's heading this way to usher in the new year. Her latest disc is "The Body Acoustic," reinterpretations of her hits and new material.
