Artists Russell Lowrey and Cora Yee are well known for their paintings, but did you know they also create jewelry?

Lowrey's travels to Spain and France, and Yee's to Nepal, have given them opportunities to collect unusual beads and findings, and their artists' eyes have found a unique way of putting them together.

There will be an opening for a show of their art and jewelry from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Nohea Island Arts, 767 Kailua Road.

THE BUTIK'S BIRTHDAY

It's hard to believe The Butik is already one year old, yet it's also hard to believe it hasn't been around forever. It's become such a popular shopping destination for the fashion crowd that it's a natural part of the scene. Celebrate with them at their anniversary party from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Public Storage courtyard, right outside The Butik.

There will be a fashion show at 6:30 p.m. featuring the spring/ summer 2008 collection from Fighting Eel, as well as refreshments, music and prize drawings every half-hour.

MAUI'S ST. JOHN OFFERS HOLIDAY RETREAT

Maui folks are being offered a respite from the holiday shopping madness at the St. John Wailea boutique at 3750 Wailea Alanui Drive. From 4 to 7 p.m. today, guests will enjoy champagne and holiday treats as they check out the latest designs from the sophisticated house of knitwear. Sorry — Angelina Jolie, the company's model, will not be there.

GLOBAL VILLAGE HOSTS THREE JEWELERS

As part of Kailua's second Sunday art events, Global Village will host a show with light pupu for three local jewelry designers from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at their Kailua boutique.

Roxanne Wallace of Hooululani Jewelry can customize charm necklaces for meaningful Christmas gifts.

Cori Rilliet and Tricia Calderon of Beachcomber Designs create jewelry from the treasures they find along the North Shore's beaches.

Jessica Crabtree of Anje Designs can engrave her pendant necklaces in sterling silver or 14- karat gold fill for the holidays. Order on Sunday and it will be ready for Christmas.
