Street festival celebrates merry Green Christmas

The Wailuku Green Christmas street festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow on Market Street.

The free event includes cookie and gingerbread house decorating contests, a farmers market, and ornament making and other keiki craft projects with an environmental theme. Big Island artist Ira Ono will oversee craft projects using recycled materials.

The Santa Parade will begin at 10:40 a.m., and picture-taking with the jolly old elf will be available at Iao Theater. The entertainment outside First Hawaiian Bank and at Wailuku Banyan Tree includes Uluwehi Guerrero, Maui Taiko and the Kamehameha Schools' Maui Drama Club and ukulele ensemble.

Major sponsors of the Wailuku Green Christmas include the Hawai'i Tourism Authority, Dowling Company, Towne Island Homes and Tri-Isle RC&D.
