Some areas on Oahu still without power

Advertiser Staff

This afternoon approximately 340 Hawaiian Electric customers in some areas of O'ahu remain without power.

All but four customers in Kunia who had been without power due to the major problem of downed poles after the heavy storm that hit O'ahu Tuesday night have been restored.

"Unfortunately, those customers still out are likely going to have to endure another night without power, and in a few worst cases, some may not have power restored until Monday," said Lynne Unemori, Hawaiian Electric vice president for corporate relations.

Major areas where poower was not restored include: 'Ewa Beach, Hau'ula, Hawai'i Kai, Kahana, Kailua, Kane'ohe, Kapahulu, McCully, Nanakuli, Niu, Nu'uanu, Palolo, Wahiawa, Waialua, Waimea, Wai'anae.
