State to put road repairs on hold beginning Dec. 13

HONOLULU — The state Department of Transportation advises O'ahu motorists that major highway construction projects will be postponed during the holiday season.

Except for emergency situations, lane closures will not be scheduled on the following state roads between Thursday, Dec. 13, and Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008:

1. H-1, H-2, H-3 Freeways

2. Kalaniana'ole Highway from Kahala Mall to Lunalilo Home Road

3. Kamehameha Highway from Acacia Road to Valkenburgh Street

4. Kamehameha Highway from Kane'ohe to Kahuku

5. Nimitz Highway/Ala Moana Boulevard from Valkenburgh Street to Kalakaua Avenue

6. Kalihi Street/Likelike Highway from Nimitz Highway to Kamehameha Highway

7. Pali Highway/Kalaniana'ole Highway/Kailua Road from Vineyard Boulevard to Kailua town

8. Vineyard Boulevard from Palama Street to Punchbowl Street

9. Moanalua Freeway

10. Kahekili Highway

Lane closures for highway construction projects at these locations will resume on Thursday, Jan. 3.

Roadwork that does not involve lane closures, such as shoulder maintenance or landscaping work, may still be scheduled. Emergency road closures may also be scheduled when necessary.
