Advertiser Staff

A 33-year-old fisherman suffering from an unknown illness has been airlifted from Johnston Island to Honolulu this afternoon, the Coast Guard said.

A medical evacuation team from Barbers Point Naval Air Station brought the ailing Indonesian man to O'ahu about 2 p.m.

The man, who was working on a Taiwanese fishing vessel, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center for treatment, the Coast Guard said.
