Maui continues cleanup, some areas still without water

Advertiser Staff

Maui County crews continue to work to restore water services, open parks and clear debris from roadways. Particularly effected are residents and businesses in the Kula area where water department personnel are repairing waterline breaks.

Several hundred water customers in the Polipoli and Keokea area in Kula are still without water. The county placed water tankers in the community. A helicopter has been on standby

to provide delivery of pipe material to crews working in areas not easily accessible by trucks.

The Department of Water Supply is advising Upper Kula residents and businesses from Copp Road to Kanaio to boil

water before drinking or cooking with it. The affected area includes Alae, Naalae Road, Waipoli, Polipoli, Waiohuli, Keokea, Ulupalakua and Kanaio.

For more information on the department's

advisory, residents can call Jacky Takakura at 808-270-8046 or the Department of Water Supply's 24-hour service number, 808-270-7633.
