Phone crews working to restore service on Maui

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Telcom crews will work through the night once again on Maui as they continue to restore phone service for more than 400 customers. Strong winds and heavy rains from last week's Kona storm, damaged cables in Wailuku and upcountry Maui. Residents in several other areas including Hana and Kaupo have also reported trouble.

Today crews addressed calls in several areas including upcountry, Lahaina and central Maui. Crews are focusing their attention right now on an underground cable on Main Street in Wailuku and expect to be in the area for the next 24 hours. Additional support crews from the Big Island and Kaua'i are expected to arrive on Maui and O'ahu to assist with the high volume of repairs.
