Power restored to all but a few on Oahu

Advertiser Staff

Power has been restored to all but a few O'ahu residential customers, according to a Hawaiian Electric Co. statement issued at 7 p.m. today.

Less than a dozen residential customers currently are without power and service is expected to be restored sometime this evening, HECO spokesman Darren Pai said in a written statement.

A handful of non-residential customers will be without power for a longer period until HECO can make repairs which require special equipment, extensive pole and line replacement and/or access to remote locations, said Pai.

Lynne Unemori, HECO vice president for corporate relations, thanked customers today for their continued patience and added, "This has been a full-court press since day one (of the outages caused by the recent storm) to get every customer back on."

Those wishing to file claims should call HECO's claims department at 543-4624 during regular business hours beginning tomorrow or write to Claims Department, Hawaiian Electric Co., P.O. Box 2750, Honolulu, HI 96840-0001, within 30 days of the outage.
