Injured Lawler to withdraw from mixed martial arts card

By Dayton Morinaga
Advertiser Staff Writer

Icon Sport middleweight champion Robbie Lawler of Iowa has an arm injury and will have to withdraw from Saturday's championship bout against Wai'anae's Kala Kolohe Hose.

Lawler was scheduled to defend his middleweight (185 pounds) belt against Hose in the main event of the mixed martial arts card on Saturday at the Blaisdell Center Arena.

Icon Sport officials have scheduled a press conference for tomorrow afternoon to address the issue.

Lawler suffered a torn biceps injury while training last week.

The bout was originally scheduled for June, but Lawler also got injured in the weeks leading up to that fight.

Icon Sport officials are trying to find a replacement fighter to face Hose on Saturday so the event can still take place.

A decision on the status of the card is expected to be announced at tomorrow's press conference.
