Gay, lesbian church to celebrate final worship service

'Ohana Metropolitan Community Church, a 2-year-old congregation that has a primary outreach to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other communities, recently announced its transition from a worshipping community to a study group that will begin meeting in February.

Its final worship service, a "Celebration of Ministry," will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 13 at Unity Church of Hawaii, 3608 Diamond Head Circle.

The Rev. Elder Ken Martin, Region 1 elder for Metropolitan Community Churches, and the Rev. Elder Debbie Martin, pastor of Open Arms MCC in Hilo, will be among those on hand. A reception will follow.
