Main break forces water conservation in Waianae area

Advertiser Staff

Traffic on Farrington Highway near the Ko Olina Golf Course is backing up in both directions because of a water main break.

The break in the 24-inch transmission main, which brings water to the reservoirs on the Wai'anae Coast, was reported at about 7:30 a.m.

No residents or businesses are without water service, but the only water at their disposal is what remains in the reservoir.

'The Board of Water Supply is asking people from Wai'anae to Nanakuli to conserve water today. Use water for cooking, bathing and drinking only and postpone all other water-using activities until after the main is repaired.

A Board of Water Supply trouble-shooting crew is on the scene.

Parts of Farrington Highway in each direction are being shut down because of the main break.
