Help sought finding sexual predator on Big Island

Big Island police are asking for the public's help in locating a 37-year-old suspect wanted for the sexual assault of a boy.

The suspect was identified as Cary Cantere.

He is known to frequent the Hilo and Puna districts. He may have fled to O'ahu and may be in the Waipahu area.

Cantere is described as 5-foot-2, about 200 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

Police caution members of the public against approaching or attempting to apprehend him.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department's nonemergency number at 808-935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at 808-961-8300 in Hilo or 808-329-8181 in Kona. All CrimeStoppers information is kept confidential.
