WAILUKU
Grant supports agency helping young children

Advertiser Staff

Imua Family Services received a $62,000 grant from the Hawaii Children's Trust Fund to support a three-year pilot program providing services to children ages 3 to 5 who are experiencing developmental delays.

The Early Childhood Development program is the only one of its kind in the state, providing speech, occupational and physical therapy to the targeted age group.

Imua executive director Karen Jayne said the donation will enable the agency to add a full-time care coordinator to the pilot program, which is completing its first year and serves more 50 children.

Imua Family Services is located in the J. Walter Cameron Center and is focused on helping children with special needs on Maui and Lana'i in the earlier years of their lives. The agency aids more than 2,300 children and their families annually.
