Annual Bus Roadeo set for tomorrow

The annual TheBus Roadeo will begin tomorrow at 8 a.m. at the transit system's Pearl City facility.About 18 bus operators will compete in this year's roadeo, navigating a full obstacle course, doing timed runs and performing intricate maneuvers with a 40-foot bus.
Three bus maintenance teams will also participate in a maintenance competition, which includes timed diagnostics and repair completion.
The winning bus operator and the winning team for the maintenance competition will go on to represent the organization in an international competition presented by the American Public Transportation Association.
Last year's team from Hawai'i placed sixth in the overall competition.
The event will take place at TheBus Pearl City facility, 1200 Waimano Home Road from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with an awards ceremony to follow at noon.
