Wisconsin lawyer named Hawaii's chief election officer

Associated Press

HONOLULU — A nationwide search has led to the appointment of a prominent Wisconsin lawyer also licensed to practice in Hawai'i as the islands' new chief election officer.

The state Office of Elections says Kevin B. Cronin will take over the post in February.

Rex Quidilla has held the position on an interim basis since Dwayne Yoshina decided earlier this year against applying for another term.

Cronin has more than 30 years of government experience. Most recently, he served as assistant general counsel for the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.

Cronin earned his law degree at the University of Wisconsin.
