Leilehua parade set for Saturday

The Leilehua High School Parade of Champions will be held Saturday, honoring the state football Division I champion Mules.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at Ka'ala Elementary School and proceed along California Avenue, ending at the Leilehua High field.

The parade will feature not only the football team, but also will include members of Leilehua's state champion cross country team, the Leilehua marching band, cheerleaders and others.

CASTLE'S KOEHLER IN ALL-AMERICAN BOWL

Castle defensive lineman Solomon Koehler has been selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Jan. 5 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The game between the East and West, featuring 84 of the nation's top high school football players, will be televised at 8 a.m. Hawai'i time on NBC.

The selection committee consists of recruiting expert Tom Lemming, rivals.com and SportsLink, according to a press release.

Castle head coach Nelson Maeda also has been invited to the game and a two-day U.S. Army Coaches Academy featuring NFL and NCAA coaches.
