Learn about Hawaiian New Year on Mauna Kea

The Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station will present its free monthly program, "Malalo o ka Lani Po," tomorrow night at the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy, located on Mauna Kea at the Visitor Information Center.

The program, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature kumu hula Leilehua Yuen and her students. They will present "The Makahiki Carol," a storytelling, music and hula program about the Hawaiian New Year.

"Malalo o ka Lani Po" takes place every third Saturday of the month. Cultural practitioners are invited to share their stories, history and skills on a topic of their choice as it pertains to Mauna Kea.
