Trades likely to keep things breezy through weekend

A strong high-pressure area north of the state will keep breezy trade winds blowing through the weekend and into the early part of next week, the National Weather Service said in its forecast for today.

Clouds and showers will favor windward and mauka areas, but the trades may be strong enough to push them into leeward areas from time to time, forecasters said.

Here's a look at how the weekend is shaping up:

Today: Scattered showers, mainly after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. Breezy, with east wind around 26 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Breezy, with east wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Saturday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. Breezy, with east wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday night: Scattered showers, mainly before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Breezy, with east wind around 22 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Sunday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. Breezy, with east wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
