3-day Sunset on the Beach kicks off this weekend

A three-day Sunset on the Beach celebration, presented by Tesoro Hawai'i, will be held tomorrow, Sunday and Tuesday at Queen's Surf Beach. The events, combining film, entertainment and food, are a prelude to the Dec. 23 Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl at Aloha Stadium.

Feature films begin at about 6:30 p.m. after the sunset.

The schedule:

  • Tomorrow — Everyday People, from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m.; Taimane Gardner, from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m, followed by a screening of "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets," starring Nicolas Cage.

  • Sunday — Simplisity, from 4:30 to 6:16 p.m., followed by "The Santa Clause 3," starring Tim Allen.

  • Tuesday — Afatia, from 4:30 p.m.; appearances by Hawai'i Bowl team members, from 5:20 p.m., followed by "Gridiron Gang," starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

    Food booths open at 4 p.m., offering snacks and dinner plates.
