Small fire extinguished at building on North King

Advertiser Staff

Three engine companies and a Fire Department battalion chief were sent to a building at 607 N. King St. about 7:30 this morning and found light smoke drifting out of one of the windows.

Firefighters entered a room on the second floor and found a smoldering mattress inside.

The situation was declared under control at 7:39 a.m.

Details on the cause of the fire and the dollar amount of the damage to the room and its contents were not immediately available.
