Global Lens film festival coming to Duke theater

Global Film Initiative, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization that seeks to build cross-cultural understanding through cinema, presents the Global Lens 2007 film festival Sunday through Jan. 5 at the Doris Duke Theatre, Honolulu Academy of Arts.

Tickets are $7 general, $6 seniors, students and military, $5 museum members. 532-8700.

All films are subtitled. The schedule:

  • "Another Man's Garden"

    Directed by Joao Luis Sol De Carvalho; Mozambique/Portugal/France, 2006, 80 minutes

    A girl who wants to study medicine in Mozambique faces daunting obstacles.

    Preceded by the short film "Riding With Sugar," directed by Suna Gonera (South Africa, 2005, 10 minutes).

  • "Enough!"
