MAPUNAPUNA
Students to be honored for creating clinic murals

Advertiser Staff

Twenty-five high school students who spent more than 550 hours and used more than 70 gallons of paint to create 10 playful murals at a Mapunapuna clinic will be recognized tomorrow.

The murals at the Kaiser Permanente Mapunapuna pediatric clinic range from 4 to 25 feet in length and sport an "Under the Sea" theme. Students from Radford and Waipahu high schools created the murals to help calm kids who come to the clinic.

The recognition ceremony, open to the students and their families, will be held tomorrow afternoon on the second floor of the clinic on Pa'a Street. The volunteers will be given plaques.

The students have been working on the 10 murals since October, volunteering nights and weekends to complete the work.
