Falling tree limbs from the gusty tradewinds are causing electrical failures around the island today from Kalihi to Kaimuki.

Hawaiian Electric Co. Inc. has crews out in Kalihi, Tantalus and Roundtop Drive and near the University of Hawai'i at Manoa removing tree limbs from overhead utility lines. Electricity has been restored to most of these areas, said Sharon Higa, company spokeswoman.

There have also been at least two reports of roof damage.

There were no reports of injuries as of 1:15 p.m.
