Lisa Matsumoto services will be in 2008

Services for local playwright and children's book author Lisa Matsumoto, who died early Friday following a head-on collision on the H-1 Freeway, will be held sometime early next year, her family said.

The Matsumoto family called a news conference at Aloha Tower Marketplace but did not speak publicly or make time for questions later about the accident.

Roslyn Catracchia, a friend of Lisa Matsumoto, read the following statement from the family:

"Our family is devastated by this tragedy. We're saddened and deeply concerned about the other people and their families who have also been affected by this accident. Our sincere hope and prayer for a speedy recovery go out to Cassie (Olaivar). We know in our hearts that our Lisa would never have wanted this to happen.

"We love Lisa and will miss her deeply. We'll always remember her not only for the legacy of contributions she has left all of us but more for her very giving and caring heart that she has always shown us, as well as anyone who came in contact with her.

"We respectfully request that you would honor our family's desire for privacy at this time to grieve, to heal and to make sense of this tragedy."
