Disaster-aid centers set up on Oahu and Maui

Disaster assistance centers have been set up on Maui and O'ahu by the state Civil Defense, the Maui Civil Defense Agency and the city Department of Emergency Management to help people whose property was damaged by high winds and heavy rains from the storm two weeks ago.

The centers will be open from 11 a.m.to 7 p.m. at these locations:

On O'ahu

  • Hawai'i Pacific University, Hawai'i Loa campus lanai at 45-045 Kamehameha Highway, across from the Pali Golf Course, today.

  • The Neal Blaisdell Center, Exhibition Hall, Hawai'i Room, No. 1 at 777 Ward Ave., on Tuesday.

    On Maui

  • Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center, 91 Pukalani St., on Tuesday.

  • Ke Alahele Building (Pacific Disaster Center), Maui Research and Technology Park, 1305 North Holopono St., Kihei, on Wednesday.

    Representatives from the Red Cross and the Salvation Army also will be at the centers to provide information and assistance.
