Puna Councilwoman Emily Naeole is scheduling community meetings to discuss the establishment of a ranger program along the Puna coastline and to conduct an educational assessment.

Naeole will host a talk-story session at the Pahoa Community Center on Dec. 17 to discuss the possibility of establishing of a ranger program along the Puna coast similar to the program recently organized for Waipi'o Valley. The meeting will start at 6 p.m.

On Jan. 8, Naeole and Hawai'i Community College Chancellor Rockne Freitas will meet with residents at the Pahoa Community Center at 5:30 p.m. to consider the community's educational needs. Naeole has called on Freitas to establish a satellite classroom or classrooms in the Pahoa area.
