Santa elves prepping 'Toys for Tots' for distribution

Advertiser Staff

Dole Cannery is being transformed into Santa's workshop today.

Thousands of new, unwrapped toys from all over the island are being brought together, sorted and prepared for distribution to various communities as "Toys for Tots" continues.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, Marine Corps and Castle & Cooke Hawaii are co-sponsoring the warehouse space at Dole Cannery for the toy drive, with a goal of collecting 60,000 toys this year.

The consolidation runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kaiser Permanente has been accepting, new unwrapped gifts at five of its clinics throughout the island since Dec. 3.

A special request for toys for girls ages 8 to 10 is especially needed this year.
