A.M. Best affirms rating for First Insurance parent

A.M. Best Co. has affirmed the "A" financial strength rating of First of Hawaii Group and its subsidiaries, including First Insurance Co. of Hawaii. Best said the outlook for all ratings is stable.The ratings agency said the ratings reflects First of Hawaii Group's "very strong" risk-adjusted capitalization, strong overall earnings and sound local market presence. It said the company's drawbacks include risk as a single-stage insurer and potential exposure to catastrophe losses.
