Boards levy fines, sanctions

The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and boards and commissions that oversee professions and vocations reported taking action against 11 companies and individuals in November.

The following are the result of hearings or settlement agreements:

  • The Board of Medical Examiners revoked the license of William A. Roberts. It also fined David H. Garfield $500.

  • The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology revoked the license of Jeanie S. Bryant of Maui, fined her $1,000 and ordered restitution of $285. It also fined Bich Ha Thi Pham, doing business as Nail Trix in Hilo, Hawai'i, $500.

  • The Real Estate Commission fined Thomas F. Schmidt, doing business as Tom Schmidt Realtors, $5,000 and revoked his license. It ordered HHH Investments LLC and Harvey H. Higashi of Maui to pay a $1,000 fine and make restitution of $1,621.35.

  • The Board of Dental Examiners said Jeffrey A. Burgess will voluntarily surrender a license on Jan. 1.

  • The Board of Private Detectives and Guards fined L. Siracusa & Associates Inc., doing business as Phoenix Hawaii, and Louis R. Siracusa Jr. $2,000 and asked they submit updated employee registration forms.

  • The Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Board levied a $4,000 administrative assessment against the Hawaii Automotive Retailing Group Inc., which does business as Saturn of Honolulu. The company is also to make sure each of its vendors is properly licensed by the state.

  • The Board of Pharmacy levied a $500 fine against Maxor National Pharmacy Services Corp.
