KAUA'I
Highway to be closed at Lumaha'i for bridge work

Advertiser Staff

Kuhio Highway will be closed in both directions at Lumaha'i Beach Park from 8 a.m. tomorrow through 8 a.m. Thursday, the state Department of Transportation announced.

The 24-hour closure is to facilitate the replacement of Wainiha Bridges One and Three.

Local residents, businesses and guests with lodging west of the Wainiha bridges will be shuttled by van and boat to their places of residence, business or lodging locations during the road closure.

The DOT said a secured parking area will be provided on the east end of the road closure near Lumaha'i Beach for vehicles of those requiring shuttle services. A secured parking area and shuttle services will also be provided at the Ha'ena end of Wainiha Bridge Number Three to transport residents and guests during the closure.

The Kaua'i Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services will continue to provide service across the bridges during the closure.

Visitors are discouraged from trying to access the area during the scheduled roadwork.
